AMAÇ: Bu çalışmada COVID-19 (koronavirüs hastalığı 2019) pandemisi döneminde 01.03.2020-31.05.2020 tarihleri arasında kulak burun boğaz bölümünce verilen hizmetlerin 2017, 2018 ve 2019 yıllarındaki aynı tarih aralığında verilen hizmetler ile karşılaştırılması ve meydana gelen değişikliklerin incelenerek önümüzdeki olası pandemilerde kulak burun boğaz bölümü olarak alınması gereken önlemler ve hastalara sağlık hizmetlerinin sunumunda dikkat edilmesi gerekenlerle ilgili bir fikir oluşturulması amaçlandı.
YÖNTEMLER: 2017, 2018, 2019 ve 2020 yıllarında Mart, Nisan ve Mayıs aylarındaki poliklinik ve ameliyat başvuru sayıları hasta bilgi yönetim sistemleri aracılığı ile tarandı. Pandemi dönemi ve önceki dönemler arasında fark olup olmadığı istatistiksel olarak incelendi.
BULGULAR: Pandemi döneminde toplam ameliyat ve toplam poliklinik başvuru sayısı ve oranı önceki yıllara göre anlamlı olarak düşük bulundu (p<0.001). Pandemi döneminde malign hastalıklara yönelik yapılan ameliyatların toplam ameliyat sayısı içindeki oranı istatistiksel olarak anlamlı artış gösterdi (p<0.001).
SONUÇ: Pandemi döneminde hastaneye başvuruda önemli oranda azalma olduğu görüldü. Tüm elektif cerrahiler ertelenmediğinden ve bazılarının önceki yıllara göre oranı değişmediğinden alınan tedbirlere sıkı uyulmadığı düşünülebilir. Hekimler hastane imkanları ölçüsünde malign hastalara öncelik vererek elektif cerrahileri ertelemelidir.

OBJECTIVE: The goal of this study was to compare the services provided by the ear, nose, and throat department between March 1st 2020 and May 31st 2020 during the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic to the same date range in the years 2017, 2018, and 2019 and examine the changes that occurred and thus form an idea about what precautions should be taken and what should be considered in the delivery of health services to patients in the ear, nose, and throat department.
METHODS: In March, April, and May of the years 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020, the outpatient clinic and surgery admission numbers were scanned by the patient information management systems. Whether or not there was a difference between the pandemic and the prepandemic period was statistically evaluated.
RESULTS: The total number and rate of surgical applications and outpatient visits were determined to be significantly lower during the pandemic than in previous years (p<0.001). The proportion of surgeries performed for malignant conditions in the total number of surgeries performed during the pandemic was found to be statistically significantly increased (p<0.001).
CONCLUSION: There was a significant decrease in hospital admissions during the pandemic. As all elective procedures were not postponed and the rate of some did not alter compared to past years, it is possible that the precautions taken are not strictly followed. Physicians should postpone elective procedures to prioritize malignant patients within the limits of their facilities.
