Baş ve boyun kanserlerinin tedavisinde cerrahi, radyoterapi ve kemoterapi yalnız veya birlikte kullanılmaktadır. Yıllar içinde daha az morbidite, daha yüksek yaşam kalitesi ile daha iyi lokal ve lenfatik kontrol ve daha uzun sağkalım elde edilen tedavi yöntemi arayışına yönelindi. Bu arayış hastaların özelliklerinin yanı sıra, hastalığın özelliklerine, yerleşimine ve evresine göre farklı tedavi yöntemleri geliştirilmesini sağladı. Bu yazıda, larenks ve orofarenks kanserlerinin tedavisinde minimal invaziv cerrahi yöntemler olarak kabul edilen transoral lazer mikrocerrahisi ve transoral robotik cerrahi, avantaj, dezavantaj ve başarı oranı açısından açık cerrahi, radyoterapi ve kemoterapi ile karşılaştırılarak gözden geçirildi.

Surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy are used alone or in combination in the management of head and neck cancers. Over the years, management modalities which offer an improved local and lymphatic control and longer survival with lower morbidity and a higher quality of life have been investigated. This search has enabled the development of several management modalities according to the characteristics, localization and stage of the disease as well as the patient characteristics. In this article, we reviewed transoral laser microsurgery, and transoral robotic surgery, which are accepted as minimally invasive surgical methods in the management of larynx and oropharynx cancers in terms of advantages, disadvantages and success rate compared to open surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
