AMAÇ: Bu çalışmada Bell paralizili hastalarda nötrofil lenfosit oranı (NLO) ve trombosit lenfosit oranının (TLO) prognoz üzerine etkisi değerlendirildi.
YÖNTEMLER: Çalışmaya Şubat 2015-Mayıs 2019 tarihleri arasında Bell paralizisi tanısı konulan 56 hasta (26 erkek, 30 kadın; ort. yaş 45.6 yıl; dağılım, 27-62 yıl) ve 60 sağlıklı gönüllü (27 erkek, 33 kadın; ort. yaş 44.0 yıl; dağılım, 35-59 yıl) dahil edildi. Hastaların kan değerleri kaydedildi. Hastalar tedaviye verdikleri yanıta göre tam düzelen ve kısmi düzelenler olarak iki gruba ayrıldı.
BULGULAR: Bell paralizili hastalarda ortalama NLO ve TLO değerleri kontrol grubuna göre anlamlı olarak yüksek idi (p<0.001). Ayrıca, NLO ve TLO değerleri kısmi düzelme gösteren hastalarda tam düzelen hastalara göre daha yüksekti.
SONUÇ: Bell paralizili hastalarda kolay uygulanabilen testler ile elde edilen NLO ve TLO değerleri prognozu belirlemede yeni bir belirteç olarak kullanılabilir.

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to evaluate the effect of neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) on prognosis in patients with Bell’s palsy.
METHODS: The study included 56 patients (26 males, 30 females; mean age 45.6 years; range, 27 to 62 years) diagnosed with Bell’s palsy between February 2015 and May 2019 and 60 healthy volunteers (27 males, 33 females; mean age 44.0 years; range, 35 to 59 years). Blood values of the patients were recorded. Patients were divided into two groups according to the response they gave to the treatment as those who fully recovered and those who partially recovered.
RESULTS: The mean NLR and PLR values in patients with Bell’s palsy were significantly higher compared to the control group (p<0.001). In addition, NLR and PLR values were higher in partially recovered patients compared to the fully recovered patients.
CONCLUSION: The NLR and PLR values, which are obtained with easily administered tests in patients with Bell’s palsy, may be used as a novel marker for determining the prognosis.
