Ensefalosel, kafa tabanındaki defektinin serebral dokunun herniasyonu olarak tanımlanır. Herniye olan doku yalnızca meningeal doku içeriyorsa meningosel; meningeal doku ile birlikte beyin dokusu da içeriyorsa meningoensefalosel adını alır. Araknoid kistler ise, araknoid membranda yerleşimli, kollajen ve araknoid hücrelerle çevrili lezyonlardır. Bu yazıda takip sırasında benign intrakraniyal hipertansiyon saptanan frontoetmoid ensefalosele eşlik eden sol parietal lob araknoid kistli bir olgu sunuldu. Araknoid kist ve ensefalosel birlikteliğinde, altta yatan benign intrakraniyal hipertansiyon mutlaka akılda bulundurulmalıdır.

Encephalocele is defined as the herniation of cerebral tissue through a skull base defect. If the herniated tissue includes only meninges, it is termed as meningocele or if it includes brain tissue with meninges, it is termed as menigoencephalocele. Arachnoid cysts are developmental lesions located within the arachnoid membrane surrounded by collagen and arachnoid matter cells. Herein, we present a case of frontoethmoidal encephalocele accompanied by an arachnoid cyst mass in the left parietal lobe in whom benign intracranial hypertension was identified during follow-up. Underlying benign intracranial hypertension should be always kept in mind in case of coexistence of arachnoid cysts and encephalocele.
